In cadrul cursului de Proteomică, 19.03.2026, ora 15 vom avea invitat pe domnul Cristian (V.A.) Munteanu, Institutul de Biochimie al Academiei Romane care va vorbi despre Profiling the early secretory space of melanoma cell line using mass-spectrometry based (de)glycoproteomics.

Participarea on-line este posibilă. Detalii despre modul de conectare sunt mai jos.

Abstract:  Around 1/3 of the eukaryotic proteome is associated to the secretory pathway, either by transiting or by resident proteins. The secretory pathway is the source for multiple key-biological functions such as folding, quality-control, protein modification, maturation and sorting, thus fulfilling essential aspects in the cellular proteostasis. Some of these functions are accomplished by a complex system of mannosidases in which those from class I have an outstanding role, involved in the early protein sorting associated to the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) in the N-glycan dependent quality control (ERQC) and ER-associated degradation (ERAD). However the secretory pool of proteins remains poorly characterized. By using a customized approach based on high-resolution mass spectrometry we define here the early secretory N-glycoproteome from a melanoma cell line and delineate potential class-I specific mannosidases substrate candidates.

Bio: Cristian (V.A.) Munteanu, graduated in Pharmacy at the University of Medicine and  Pharmacy Carol Davila from Bucharest and received his Ph.D. in Biology (minor Biochemistry) in 2017 from the Romanian Academy for work centered on the degradation of misfolded proteins from endoplasmic reticulum (ERAD) and Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class I peptides presentation. Currently he is the head of the Applied Proteomics and Interactomics group in the Department of Bioinformatics and Structural Biochemistry of the Romanian Academy Institute of Biochemistry (IBRA) and the technological platform leader of the Protein Chemistry Facility which encompasses liquid chromatography and high resolution mass spectrometry instrumentation.
